Course of Quantum Science and Energy Engineering, Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering

Converting "power of nuclear engineering" into power that will broaden the future.

The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is the doorway that leads to this school's quantum science studies. With the latest in computer science as a base, students in the first and second years of the undergraduate program solidly accumulate basic knowledge including the mechanics of materials, mechanics of fluids, thermal engineering and systems engineering in order to have a cross-sectional understanding across a wide swath of disciplines. Upon entering the third year, students can elect to take "Quantum Science and Energy Engineering" as a basic education course for further specialization.

In the Course of Quantum Science and Energy Engineering, your knowledge on the quantum level such as electrons, atomic nuclei and atoms will be deepened. You will gain understanding of interactions between substances, and you will learn about quantum-level phenomena and their applications in various areas such as medical diagnoses and in the development of new materials. In addition, you will also learn about the principles and mechanisms of nuclear fission / fusion reactors which control and effectively use energy generated from nuclear reactions, and cultivate your knowledge about general engineering that fuses multiple disciplines such as physics, chemistry and mathematics.
